Basement collapse in Palace Gardens Terrace

On Sunday morning, 22 July, builders were called to 42 Palace Gardens Terrace to do emergency shoring up of the building, as its ongoing basement excavation had started to collapse, creating huge cracks both in that building as well as in the adjoining numbers 40 and 44.

On 26 July, the Olympic torch passed Kensington on the last day before the opening of the London 2012 Olympics.

Celebrating the Diamond Jubilee

Two days before the official start of the four-day Diamond Jubilee Weekend, on 31 May, more than 200 Cherry Tree area residents met up in the courtyard of St Mary Abbot’s vicarage to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 60-year reign.Although the weather could have been better (but at least it managed to stay dry), most people thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Fighting for a new surgery

On 31 May 2012, Kensington Place Surgery closed, as the sole owner of the practice, Dr Carole Bronsdon, had decided to leave. This means that we’ve lost the last GP practice in the Campden ward, and more than 5,000 residents have been forced to find another surgery.

Sainsbury’s comes to the Church Street bend

The Sainsbury local store in the Church Street bend will probably open in early 2013.
